Twenty years of telecom engineering — from VoIP gateway installations to running a Cloud PBX and AWS-backed authentication platform.

  1. Manager (VoIP and Telecom)

    2012 — Present

    Etisalcom Bahrain W.L.L

    Lead telecom products, services, and engineering teams. Drive interconnect management, network operations, and customer support across local and global operators.

    • Designed and implemented MSC for local and international operators over SS7/SCCP and SMPP.
    • Deployed and managed Cloud PBX for numerous customers; architected an eFax solution for fax-to-email.
    • Implemented call center solutions; launched local DID operation on mobile platforms.
    • Introduced ETISL Share — an advanced mobile app for users.
    • Deployed a fault-tolerant RADIUS-based authentication microservice on AWS; migrated to DynamoDB for improved latency.
    • Set up disaster recovery for VoIP users.

    2009 — 2012

    Led number portability deployment in Bahrain for mobile and fixed operators. Managed voice/SMSC interconnects with local and global operators.

    • Achieved seamless billing integration and RADIUS connectivity.
    • Deployed NGN solutions and Class 5 Switch for prepaid subscribers (SMS, voicemail, call services).
    • Delivered Lawful Intercept, Bit Streaming, and capacity planning initiatives.
    • Managed mobile dialers across Symbian, BlackBerry, iPhone, and Windows Mobile.

    Designed BeyondPhone — a six-in-one calling solution integrating callback and PC2Phone using OpenSER, OpenSIPs, and Asterisk.

    • Developed hosted MediaRoutes and SIP-based Calling Card services with billing integration.
    • Built Call Back and Web Call Back services to drive revenue.
    • Led QA for Class 4/5 Softswitch and RADIUS billing — designed test cases and improved reliability.
    • Optimized core network: MRTG-based traffic monitoring, Linux Heart Beat, monitoring scripts.
  4. Telecom Engineer

    2005 — 2006

    Easy Link International

    Installed, maintained, and troubleshot VoIP gateways (AS5400, AS5350), routers, firewalls, switches.

    • Administered Windows and Linux servers; deployed advanced AAA and RADIUS.
    • Coordinated bandwidth and voice quality issues with external providers.
    • Managed VoIP softswitch operations: dial peers, CDRs, billing plans.
    • Operated billing servers on Linux, Windows Server, and SQL Server.
